How can I get my puppies to stop chewing EVERYTHING
l have a 7 month old labrador and a 9 month old puggle. The lab seriously
chews everything including the corner of the box springs on our bed. He
chewed right through the material and now the entire frame in that corner
is visible. He even chewed the corner of the kitchen cabinets and the
baseboards on the walls. l tried a no bite spray and it does not seem to
be working. What can l do?
feed them
Your dog sounds board. Take it for daily walks. Then give it
something it can chew on. We like Nylabone, or real uncooked cow bones. If
you catch the animal chewing on something they shouldn't. Show them it is
not okay by removing their mouth from the object.
Rawhide treats and spraying vinegar or Listerine on the spots
they bite will help.
Why not buy some chew toys for him?
In the first place, you need to find them something to chew on
that is old & not used anymore & possibly with ur scent on it. You can
also try hitting them with the things he has chewed on (if possible). I am
not talking about hurting ur dogs (nothing like abuse), just like hitting
ur dogs with rolled up paper. Or an alternative to the paper is to take a
paper towel roll (after using the paper towels) put some buttons, rocks,
pennies, or whatever inside it & tape both ends, then when they do something wrong shake that paper towel roll at them. The sound will scare them. Or put some kind of hot sauce on the things they chew on.
rawhide treats and any kind of dog chews and correct him as the
dog whisperer does on tv
I have a lab to and when he was a puppy he used to chew alot.
We took him to a training class with other dogs that makes them be more
obiedent. We also used a spray bottle filled with water when he did
something wrong.
plus some good chew toys could help with this. Playing and
wearing them down
the lab should be getting at least 3 half hour brisk walks
every day. Sounds like you also need a crate for when you aren't there.
The puggle cannot stand the same amount of exercise as the lab
Use vinegar it a spray bottle and spray the area not the dog.
It won't hurt most things, even your dog. Teach her the leave it command.
Need more..I am open to email.
Try giving them chew toys.Or get them outside to a park.
Bitter Apple or Listerine
Spray it on what they are chewing & when you catch them in the act a stern
NO!
they sound bored and frustrated . get them out and wear them
out a bit then they wont be so tempted to work out their stress on ur
furniture.
