If you have a table saw or radial arn it is pretty simple to Mamacita own, just slice off a slim wedge. They are cheap and come in a pack. Registered User Works best if you insert one on each side and push them together. Yes that is what a shim is. It is thicker on one end so you can sugarsnukemz slide it up under the cabinet. You can also use small peices of wood you Registered User have and don't have to buy a pkg of shims. Just adjust it until your Joined: Saturday, 22nd of May 2010, 06:44:31 bubble in your level is centered. Best wishes! Posts: 211 Viewed 11007 times

Yuppers.. cendol Registered User A shim is about 3-4 inches long, looks like a small wedge. And very very Joined: Saturday, 24th of April 2010, 06:41:24 easy to do what it is you need to do. Anyways. Just swing on over to your local, ACE, Lowes, Home Depot, lumber
center, etc. They cost about 3-5 bucks for a pack of about 10 to 12 of
them. Trust me, you can do it and its no big deal.

There are pre-cut shims that taper to a point on one Gup end-they're available at any hardware or building supplier. Simply drive Registered User it in with a hammer as far as you need to fill the gap, then cut it off Joined: Saturday, 22nd of May 2010, 23:19:30 with either a wood chisel or a handsaw flush with the edge of your Posts: 1076 cabinet.Be careful though not to drive it in so far that you disturb the Viewed 3645 times new countertop, as it could break. If your shimming beforehand you're
cool!!

it is just a piece of wood that is tapered. typically called Dream Girl shim shingles and usually made of cedar or pine. you will need to place Registered User several shims around the cabinet base not just at the low corner. this Joined: Monday, 31st of May 2010, 05:18:36 helps distribute the weight of the new counter top. You can buy shims at your local lumber store, maybe at a Baby Brunette hardware store. You could use a shingle. Since you're raising on corner Registered User 1/4 you should also shim along the length for strength. In this case, a Joined: Monday, 26th of April 2010, 15:25:52 shingle may be a better choice. Yes a shim is a ''slice of wood''.or, actually a piece of wood Princess Consuela Banana Hammock that can be so long, or so wide, as to hold up whatever it is you need. Registered User Joined: Monday, 31st of May 2010, 13:57:20 I would go & get a piece of wood, & saw off a 1/4 inch piece, (get hubby Posts: 1817 to do it, if he is handy), & shove it under the cabinet, where it needs to Viewed 6647 times be leveled. That will take care of it.
Also, make it flush if its the front that needs leveled, so that you can
put the base trim on the front & not have to worry about hitting the shim.
Make the shim about 3 inches wide.
I wish you well
